We love the English language. Words can be many things; inspiring, withering, motivating, weaponry, clangers. They’re all part of the family. Every now and then, when there’s a word we love, we’ll post it as our Word of the Day.
Yesterday’s word was Eudaimonia, which Wikipedia defines as a Greek word commonly translated as happiness or welfare; however, “human flourishing” has been proposed as a more accurate translation.
Today’s word is a little ripper, Claqueur, shared by a colleague. Happily, this colleague was introducing me to someone else by stating that I was not one. A claqueur is a members of a claque, which according to Wikipedia, is an organized body of professional applauders in French theatres and opera houses. Nowadays, known as a laugh track.
