Has the Great Barrier Reef Dodged a Bullet?
This is a promising development in what appeared to be a fait accompli disaster for Australia’s Great Barrier Reef and the its related tourism industry that generates $6.2 Billion and 120,000 jobs for Australia’s visitor economy. Tourism industry professionals can’t afford to remain complacent (as it’s peak advocacy groups have been, with the notable exception of the Queensland Tourism Industry Council). Im an optimist, but without due process and industry monitoring the development closely, an out of the frying pan, into the fire’ scenario is not beyond doubt.
